Automatic Connection (Samsung Routines)

The Routine function learns your usage patterns and recognizes situations to suggest and automatically set various actions and apps accordingly.

Users can set “conditions” and “actions” so that specified actions are automatically executed when the set conditions are met.

Routine

2. Automatic DeX Start

Automatically start DeX when you enter your vehicle. When the vehicle's ignition is turned on, the vehicle's Bluetooth starts and connects to your phone. The following method uses this Bluetooth connection to automatically launch DeX.

If you install the latest version of the app, you can even enter the dex screen.

STEP01 Modes and Routines ▶ Routines Tab ▶ Tap +

STEP02 Add a Starting Condition

STEP03 Bluetooth Device ▶ Select Device

STEP04 Select your vehicle's Bluetooth (e.g., Ford 150)

Select a vehicle within the Bluetooth device

STEP05 Select "Connected" ▶ Done

STEP06 Add an Action to Perform

STEP07 Select Connected devices ▶ Samsung DeX ▶ ON ▶ Done

Samsung DeX → Use

STEP08 Save

When connected to your car's bluetooth, Samsung DeX will start. (You still have to press "Start Now")

You can even automate pressing "Start Now" with our beta app

STEP09 The routine is saved with the new name.

3. Auto-Start Google Maps/Youtube Music When DeX is Launched

Automatically start frequently used apps when DeX starts. To start two apps automatically, one can be launched via the app, and the other via Bixby.

STEP01 Tap + ▶Add a Starting Condition

STEP02 Samsung DeX ▶ On ▶ Done

STEP03 Add an Action to Perform

STEP04 Apps ▶ Open an App or do an app action

STEP05 Open YT Music ▶ Done

STEP06 Add Another Action

STEP07 Bixby Voice

STEP08 Ask Bixby ▶ Enter "Open Maps" ▶ Done

Request Bixby "Google Maps on"

STEP09 Save When Samsung DeX starts, it will launch Youtube Music and ask Bixby to start Google Maps.

4. Auto-Play Music (Youtube Music)

Automatically play music when connected to the vehicle and the YT Music is launched.

STEP01 Tap + ▶ Add a Starting Condition

STEP02 Bluetooth Device ▶Select Device

STEP03 Bluetooth Device ▶ Select your vehicle's Bluetooth

STEP04 Select "Connected" ▶ Done

STEP05 Add Another Condition

STEP06 Choose App opened

STEP07 Select YT Music

STEP08 Add an Action to Perform

STEP09 Select Music

STEP10 Select Play Music

STEP11 Play Music: Select YT Music ▶ Done

STEP12 Save When connected to the vehicle's Bluetooth, Youtube Music will play.

5. Auto-Stop Music When DeX is Ended

When DeX is ended, the music that was playing may continue on the phone. The following method allows you to automatically stop the music when DeX exits.

STEP01 Tap + ▶ Add a Starting Condition

STEP03 Samsung DeX ▶ Ended ▶ Done

STEP04 Add an Action to Perform

STEP05 Apps ▶ Close an app ▶ Select the app to close (Youtube Music)

STEP06 Save When Samsung DeX is ended, the YT Music will be closed.
