Use Google Assistant While Driving

If your vehicle supports Google Assistant or you have the Android Auto app, you can get help from Assistant without using your hands while driving.

To start, say "Hey Google" or press and hold the voice control button on your vehicle's steering wheel.

"Hey Google"

To start Google Assistant, just say "Hey Google." The screen will respond with "Hey Google."

Using the Steering Wheel Button

Press and hold the voice button on the ‘steering wheel’ remote control.

"Take me home." "Navigate to Times Square in New York City." "Show me the way to the nearest coffee shop." "Navigate to work." "Give me driving directions to 123 Main Street, San Francisco, CA." "Send John a text saying I’ll arrive in 5 minutes."

Touch the Microphone Icon

Tap the microphone icon in the bottom left corner of the app list to give a command.
